America Adopts! is the only online parent profile service where hopeful adoptive parents are featured exclusively on its home page.

Created by adoptive parents, it grew out of one simple idea: to give prospective birth parents and adoptive parents more control over the open adoption networking process.

Prospective birth parents: Our Find A Family makes it easy for you to interact, share and connect with the adoptive parents that are right for you.

Prospective adoptive parents: Our Services makes it easy for you to stand out and leverage your parent profile so that you can connect with the birth family that’s looking for you.

We also have resources and a blog for both expectant parents and waiting adoptive parents.

As an online resource, our goal is to build on the work that your agency, attorney or facilitator does, not replace or compete with it.

One reason we believe so strongly in what we do is because we’ve done it ourselves.

Nearly 15 years ago we became adoptive parents after connecting with our son’s birth parents online.

Since then we’ve helped dozens of other expectant parents and waiting parents do the same.

Join us today. You never know–you could be next!

Why We’re Here

At America Adopts! we believe that open adoption is a choice.

So it only makes sense that if you’re one of the two parties involved in making that choice–a prospective birth parent or adoptive parent–you should have a say in how it happens.

With the help of technology, we give you that say.

Our goal is to help you find the adoptive parents or birth parents you’re looking for and build a strong and lasting relationship with them.

How We Got Here

Every adoption story is special in its own way.

For a while there, it seemed like the only thing special about ours was how frustrating it was.

But then we realized that there was nothing special about our story at all. In fact, it was fairly typical.

We had done everything we were supposed to. Completed our home study. Created an adoption profile. Signed up with multiple agencies. And told everyone we knew, including the mailman, about our adoption plans.

Still, nothing happened. We just kept waiting.

So one day we decided to take things into our own hands and posted our parent profile on the Web.

This was long before social networking sites like Facebook came along. We had no idea how it would work. Or if it would work at all.

But we had run out of options. We figured it was worth a shot.

Then one night we got the call that changed our life. A woman from another part of the country said she had seen our profile and wanted to place her baby with us.

A few weeks later, we met. And a few weeks after that, we became parents.

When it came time to expand our family, we created a website to help connect prospective adoptive parents and birth parents. We figured if it worked for us, it could work for others too.

Today, more than ten years later, that site is still going strong, with dozens of matches under its belt.

America Adopts! draws on the lessons we’ve learned online over the last decade and from our own open adoption experiences, including our second adoption in Washington state.

In fact, it was that experience and our ongoing relationship with our son’s birth family that inspired us to create America Adopts!

We hope to use the insights from our story to help you with yours.
