Thank you for considering open adoption. We hope that as you read about us, you’ll be interested in calling us so that we can get acquainted. Isaac came into our family through the wonderful gift of open adoption, and we are excited to be expanding our family this way a second time. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to tell you a little about ourselves.
We met through Eddie’s great aunt Karen, a friend of Cyra-Lea’s from her hometown of Phoenix, AZ. We had our first date at a Diamondbacks baseball game on August 5, 2005, and were married less than a year later. We shared the dream of raising a family, and knew that adoption would be the best way for us to do that. Isaac was born on February 7, 2014, and he has been one of the greatest blessings of our lives.
Charlestown is a rural Indiana town about 15 miles north of Louisville, KY. We like living in a small town while still being less than 30 minutes outside of a larger city. Our home is located just a few minutes away from the Charlestown State Park, which sits on the Ohio River and is a beautiful place to go hiking, fishing, or camping, and we go there regularly. There are also several parks, including a water park just for young children, in our city. We love spending time outdoors as a family, and look forward to including another child in all those activities! We live on a quiet cul-de-sac in a subdivision with mostly younger families. Isaac loves to walk around and explore the neighborhood with us. Our next door neighbors are adoptive parents to three children themselves, and they have been very supportive of us in our own adoption journey. Our home has a spacious back yard, and a recently finished basement, with plenty of room for energetic young children to run around and play.
Isaac is a sweet, easy-going little boy. He is very active, loves being outdoors, and is constantly exploring everything in his world. His favorite toys and activities are ones that encourage him to use his hands.
Eddie’s sister, her husband, and our three nephews all live within a few minutes of us, and Isaac adores them. Eddie’s parents live on several acres of property, and Isaac spends time there seeing their neighbors’ chickens, cows, and goats. Cyra-Lea’s parents live in Columbus, Ohio, and we get to visit with them a few times a year. They look forward to seeing updated pictures and videos from us.
In the summertime we plant a small garden in our back yard. We grow peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, and herbs. Eddie makes a pretty awesome chili with the fresh tomatoes we produce. Cyra-Lea hopes to put up a full swing set in the yard one day, and Eddie looks forward to the time when he can throw a baseball or play football with our kids. When we do have spare time for individual hobbies, Cyra-Lea enjoys reading and trying new recipes. She has also set a goal for herself of running a 5k in under 30 minutes, and takes Isaac along in his stroller.
Eddie is a computer programmer. His job is very flexible, allowing him to work from home when needed, and consistently be home in the evenings and on weekends. Cyra-Lea works just one day a week as a registered nurse, and loves being able to spend most of her days home with Isaac. We have decided that once our next baby boy or girl joins our family, Cyra-Lea we become a STAY AT HOME MOM.
Our faith is very important to us. We were both raised as Jehovah’s Witnesses, and still actively practice our faith today. We strongly believe that the Bible is the best source of guidance for a happy marriage and family life, and we are both grateful for the Bible instruction we received ourselves as we were growing up. Children are included in all meetings and activities at our Kingdom Hall, and Isaac is a beloved member of our congregation. We have no doubt that our new child our will also be dearly loved by our closest friends.
We absolutely love being parents. It is both the greatest joy and responsibility we have ever known, and we would not take back one day of our lives before Isaac. While parenting does come with challenges, it has made us very happy. We also love the feeling of knowing that we are the persons that Isaac adores and trusts most in this world. We keep in touch with Isaac’s birth family, sending them pictures and updates a few times each year. They hold a special place in our hearts, and it makes us so happy to be able to share these with them. One of Isaac’s favorite toys is a stuffed bear his birth family made for him, which we will make sure that he cherishes. We are thankful that he will be able to know his first family as he grows older and asks questions about his adoption story, and we hope that Isaac’s future brother or sister also has the same opportunity.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share a little about our lives with you. We are very excited to expand our family again, and hope to hear from you soon! Please feel free to contact us at any time.
