Hello! We are Kody and Melissa.
We hope through this you will learn more about us and our life together. We promise a life full of love, laughter and joy for your child. We believe it’s important to discuss adoption with a child from an early age. We’re comfortable with whatever level of openness you’d like to have, whether it be exchanging photos, phone calls, emails or visits.
Kody is amazing. He always helps me with chores I don’t love, like taking out the trash and folding laundry. Most of the time you can find him on his tractor or working on something in the barn. He loves comic books and can’t wait to have someone to read them with. He’s quirky and goofy and always laughing. He is wonderful with kids and they always seem to have a blast with him.
Kody has an older brother and younger sister. His brother and father both travel for work but visit as much as possible. Kody’s younger sister, her husband and two daughters live in Kansas. We don’t get to see them as much as we’d like so we stay in touch by phone calls, text and Facebook.
Melissa loves kids. She has worked in childcare over 5 years and special education over 3 years. She loves to read and be in the garden. She is also getting better at sewing. She is strong yet sweet. She’s always trying new recipes. They don’t always turn out as planned but I try to eat it anyway. Ha-ha. I can’t wait to see the wonderful mother she will become.
Melissa’s has an older sister who lives just down the road, about 5 minutes away. Her parents still live in our home town about 15 minutes away. It seems like we are always together. We have weekly family dinners and always help each other with home projects. Her mom loves couponing and that has been their Sunday morning routine.
We have known each other since kindergarten but did not become close until 2011. In 2013 we had our first official date. After that, we never left each other’s side. In 2015 Kody proposed by engraving on the swing in our backyard. We married in October 2015 on Melissa’s family farm. It was rainy and cold, but it was beautiful.
We love to go to baseball games. We are always looking for a new minor league team to see. We have seen teams in 7 cities in Michigan. Also, in IL, OH, WI, TX and KY. Kody would love to see one in every state. We hope future children will love the game as much as we do. In the summer time we go camping and hiking and sightsee all the waterfalls. Usually in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
We have a lovely little 5-bedroom, 2.5 bath home on 10 acres of land in a country area of Michigan. It’s great for walking, hunting and enjoying nature’s beauty. Our yard is large enough for kids to play and our garden to grow. Our road is quieter. It has several families with small children, a couple crop farmers, and a couple families with horses. We are short drive to the movie theatre, bowling alley, mall, lots of parks and libraries but far out enough to enjoy the peacefulness of the country.
