Dear Expectant Mother,
Hi! We are Tim and Justin. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and consider us as parents for your child. We can only imagine how challenging this time is for you, but we greatly admire the decision you’ve made. We hope this letter allows you to get to know a bit about who we are, and who we want to be as parents. We’d love a chance to connect with you to share our excitement about being parents and also to hear about you and your desires for this child.
We met while running a 200‐mile relay race together with friends, and we’ve been laughing together and sharing our lives ever since. We are best friends who live a life of activity and adventure and shared interests, and we are bound by love and respect for each other. We were married last year, and we moved from San Francisco to San Rafael because we wanted a larger home near good schools where we could expand our family.
Lucy, our dogs, is a big part of our lives, and we take her with us wherever we go. Lucy has boundless energy, loves kids and will play with anyone.
Where We Live
We live in a 4‐bedroom house on a quiet street in San Rafael, California, just north of San Francisco. The house was built in 1932 and the only other family that lived here adopted their only son. So, we don’t think it’s an accident that we’re the next family to live here! We’ve already chosen a room for the nursery. Our home is filled with laughter, great conversations, dinners with friends and lots of love. We have a beautiful yard (ready for a swing), a garden, big trees and lots of flowers. The elementary school is one of the best in the county, and it’s only three blocks away. Our neighbors are friendly and many of them have small children as well. San Rafael has a great downtown within walking distance from our house and is minutes away from beautiful natural areas, like the Redwood forest or beaches and the Pacific Ocean.
About Justin (by Tim)
Justin is not only my love, he’s also my best friend. There is no one I respect more. He is a quiet and gentle soul with a huge heart. Justin always puts others first and is above all concerned about the well-being and happiness of those he loves and respects. I love watching him with his grandparents or with our niece and nephew, showing them great patience and respect.
Justin has a great sense of adventure and a love of the outdoors. has competed in the Ironman triathlon twice. In addition to running, biking and swimming, he also enjoys skiing, baking, good books and spending time in his woodworking shop. Right now he is working on a new baby bed. Justin͛’s inner strength and determination make him as successful in his career as he is as an athlete.
Justin is patient and determined, qualities I think will make him a great father. I can’t imagine a better person to introduce a kid to the outdoors and encourage a life‐long interest and respect for the environment. When I watch him playing games with our niece, or rocking our nephew, I know our child will be lucky to call him ‘dad.’
