Hello from Nebraska! We are delighted to share our story, and we would love to hear as much of your story as you are comfortable sharing. Adoption was put on our hearts long ago, and we are now eagerly awaiting the joy of becoming first-time parents through adoption. Each step of the process so far has been accompanied by greater assurance that this is the path by which we are supposed to grow our ministry family. We are a great team, and together we are looking forward to providing a musical, creative, active, playful, grace-filled, and Jesus-centered environment in which your child can grow and flourish. We are open to a boy, girl, or twins of any race, and we would be thrilled to share photos, letters, and yearly visits if that is your desire!

Jon is a youth and worship pastor, and Sharayah works part-time as a nanny and as an accompanist. Our common faith, passion for music, and calling to vocational ministry drew us together, and we have been married for nearly nine years now. Together, we enjoy going for walks, spending time with our friends and their children, and having movie nights. We look forward to the day we will be able to include our child in these activities! Early in our relationship, we discussed adoption as a possibility for growing our family, though we did not anticipate infertility would also affect our journey to parenthood. Now, we have embraced that adoption was always meant to be a part of our story.About Jon (By Sharayah): One of the first things that drew me to Jonathan was seeing him run around (leading a game) with a herd of preschoolers during a mission trip. Jonathan has a tender heart, a playful spirit, an impossibly quick wit, and a knack for making people of all ages and backgrounds feel accepted and at ease. He is flexible and not easily rattled, and he is a gentle, but strong and creative leader. He looks forward to going on adventures, playing soccer, and teaching our child guitar.About Sharayah (By Jon): Sharayah has always wanted to be a mother and consistently displays a loving, tender nature to others. Her passion and desire to reflect Christ in her life leads her to love well and show grace and kindness to all while using her wisdom to help so many others navigate the trials of life. She is excited to teach our child how to do all of these things as well as live a life that brings glory and honor to God.
Our Home & Community
Our five-bedroom house is nestled on a corner lot in the middle of a small rural town. It is within walking distance from a park, the local schools, and a gorgeous lake with a walking path and a playground. We have two outside dogs (Hank and Drover) who enjoy lounging on our covered deck or soaking up the love from our friends around our fire pit while we roast marshmallows. We also have a small indoor dog (Nika) who loves to look out the big corner windows in our living room. Our nursery is set up, and we look forward to adding more decorations for a boy or girl!Rural Nebraska is family friendly, and our church and community are supportive of our adoption plans! Our small town is maintained well and offers a farmer’s market and several community events that feature family activities. When we want more restaurants, attractions, and stores, we can easily make a short 30-60 minute trip to one of the bigger towns.
Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption
Sharayah was first drawn to adoption as a child because one of her closest friends was adopted as an infant. Through ministry, both Jon and Sharayah have met several more adoptees and adoptive families along with a birth mother who placed her child many years ago. We know that adoption – and parenthood in general – is a lifelong commitment that has its challenges just like anything else. We also know what a gift and a blessing it is to be entrusted with a child! If you decide to place your child with us, here is a snapshot of how we plan to parent:
- We will love and cherish your child as our own!
- We will honor you, and we will teach your child to honor you.
- We will teach your child what we believe (our faith is very important to us), while also understanding that they will ultimately have to choose for themselves what to believe.
- We will get to know your child and pay attention to their temperament, personality, learning style, gifts, and preferences.
- We will focus on relationship – our desire is to reach your child’s heart, not just achieve outward obedience alone.
- We will provide structure and gentle, but firm discipline with the purpose of restoring broken relationships.
- We will play, joke around, be silly, and have fun with your child.
- We will teach your child that they are loved, valuable, worthy, and enough.
- We will do our best to teach and model good character traits such as respect, humility, and integrity.
- We will do everything we can to make sure your child knows they belong and will be able to call home and family safe places.
