About Us

We met on a dating app and sort of connected by accident! We were supposed to find matches only in our area, but we were ‘matched’ with each when we, each separately, were visiting family out of state; Tim was visiting Wisconsin, and I was in Nevada. Clearly the glitch was meant to be, and 4 years later we have built a happy life together in Illinois. We’ve been thinking about adoption since we found out having a biological child would not be possible for us. It’s been a dream to raise children together since early in our relationship, and we couldn’t be more excited to adopt.

Our Home & Community

We live in a 3 bedroom home in a large suburban community outside of Chicago. Our cozy house is on a quiet cul-de-sac, so there’s hardly any traffic. We picture lots of time in the front yard, riding bikes with our child, making chalk art on the driveway, or playing with bubbles. It will be a great place to raise a child! We’ve already begun preparing a nursery too. What we love most about living here is getting a balance of quiet country life with farmland and nature preserves in one direction, and also having quick access to shopping, restaurants, and more, in the other direction. We live in the middle of it all!

Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption

In terms of parenting, we firmly believe the importance of expressing right is right and wrong is wrong and what is and isn’t tolerated. This is actually a big topic of conversation in our house as Tim is a Para-Interventionist in a fairly tough school district. Working with kids in kindergarten up to 6th grade usually, he shares his experiences and practices in how his team is educated on how to de-escalate and redirect. I believe it is so important to speak, age appropriately, to your child in a way that they understand if a behavior or action will not be tolerated. Having that open-line of communication will help build the level of trust and understanding between the child and parents that would hopefully continue to strengthen over time. I believe it is really important to have those tough conversations, again, age appropriately, to help the child identify what is and is not acceptable and work together on changing that behavior or preventing that wrong action to repeat in the future.

Closing Thoughts

Family is important to us; we cannot wait to grow ours. We are proud that adoption will be a part of our story! We promise to support your child in every way possible, and to provide a loving, safe place to grow up. We will make sure he or she knows how loved they are. We will model and teach healthy communication, honesty, and finding the good around us. We will be parents he or she can trust to come to for anything! We will honor whatever level of contact you’d like and embrace an open adoption, at your comfort level. Your child will grow up knowing how our family came together through adoption, and we will always talk about you in love. We already have so much love in our hearts for the child who will join our family and we hope to get to know you through this process. Thank you for considering us!With love,
Tim & Lauren
