Meredith & Adam

We wanted to craft a heartfelt introduction, but we had a hard time finding the right words. We hunted for an inspiring quote, but Google returned too many options and Meredith couldn’t decide. We tried to be funny, but unfortunately when Adam enlisted in the Army they issued him a uniform but not a sense of humor. So, all we’ve got to start with is a smile and a hello!

About Us
We are Meredith and Adam and we live in Springfield, Missouri. We are a fun-loving, active couple who enjoy riding bikes, running (well, Meredith shuffles), cooking, and playing a competitive game of chess or two. Meredith is a middle school teacher in a gifted education program and Adam is a service technician (as well as a fixer of all things in our home); he also serves in the military as his unit’s commander. We are close to our families and love being with them — we have seven nephews and one niece between us, so we are used to playing dress up and engaging in Nerf gun combat.
We have a lot of love to share, and starting a family has always been a dream of ours. Unfortunately, nature had other plans for us — we have learned that we are unable to conceive. While infertility is difficult, we know adoption is a beautiful way to grow a family.
We are grateful to get to know you and to share more of ourselves.

Our Home & Community
We live in a lovely neighborhood with families of all ages. We have access to beautiful walking and biking trails, which lead to a local park and botanical garden. We are also within walking distance of a local elementary and middle school. Our city has many different things to offer, from music to restaurants to schools to outdoor activities.
Our home has a fenced-in backyard, an open kitchen (since it’s a natural gathering space), and a large dining room perfect for family dinners.
We are close to our families, and we are proud to have built a village like no other. Our families have opened their hearts and their homes to bring us all together, and all of us would love to welcome you too.

Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption
We believe that adoption is not about ending one family and starting a new one; it’s about bringing everyone together. We have immense respect for expectant parents, and we want to maintain as open a relationship as they feel comfortable having. We do not want to make anyone feel pressured or uncomfortable, because ultimately that is not what’s best for anyone.
Reflecting on this journey, we’ve learned relationships are about finding the right fit. We’ve brought all parts of our pasts, presents, and futures together into one and built something amazing. However, over time we’re realized that there’s still one piece missing. We feel spoiled by how much love we have for each other, and we know we have enough room in our hearts to share.

Closing Thoughts
We are excited to share this glimpse into our lives. Whether it’s riding our bikes, cooking dinner, or enjoying a rockin’ concert we feel lucky to do it together. Our relationship has taken us all the way from the tops of mountains to the comfort of our couch. As Adam likes to say, “We can live without each other, but we can’t live without each other.” We value independence and give each other freedom to explore our interests…but we also can’t wait to share all about it when we get home. Even if we are physically apart our hearts and our minds never are (and we have the text message records to prove it). While we’ve done so much together, there’s one thing we’ve always wanted — to start a family.
We hope that you see something in us that feels right to you. This is a big step for all of us to take together. We realize that there’s nothing conventional or easy about this journey, but we are grateful that we don’t have to do it alone.
As Helen Keller once said, “All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Love is the best thing we have to give, and our wish is that our lives are the right fit with yours.
